Omron’s platform relay families, G5NB, G5Q, and G2RL have been expanded to add explosion-proof ratings (IEC/EN60079-15) to varying models across the product families. The explosion-proof certification provides a guarantee that the relays will not cause ignition of flammable gasses when switching in such environments. Omron is heavily focusing on the expansion of like-certified relays to support the transition to low Global Warming Potential, “Green” Refrigerants. These refrigerants include semi-flammable variants that must be designed with components that prevent against their ignition. Omron’s platform relays can support explosion-proof switching from 3A to 16A for both 1formA and 1formC requirements.

The XW4M/N series are push-in terminal block PCB connectors with a unique dual-spring structure that reduces insertion / removal force and ensures high contact reliability. The XW4M is the plug and XW4N is the socket.  The blue lever bar on the XW4N releases the spring to alleviate friction and allows for one handed socket removal.  Pin number markings come standard and eliminates the need for printing on other spaces such as a board, thus reducing unnecessary space and workload.

The G5PZ relays provide a PCB space saving option for designs requiring 20A switching current abilities. G5PZ-1A4-E is a sealed addition to this relay family, providing conformation to IEC/EN60079-15. The new sealed models are ideal candidates for switching in flammable gas environments. They offer low power consumption atop of high electrical endurances at their rated loads.

These Ultra Subminiature Basic Switches can be used for applications requiring high reliability with a long life and a clear click feeling such as controllers and mice in the eSports gaming industry. The crisp, sharp, distinctive click sound, and long life is achieved by its stable spring structure.

Omron uses Computer-aided engineering (CAE) to test and validate the performance of the haptic feedback and for quality control to completely inspect each switch during the production process.
